Frequently Asked Questions about Apostilles in the United States

We answer your questions about apostilles for business documents and other official documents: requirements, costs, destination countries, and how we manage the process in each state. Incorporalia coordinates the process and reviews the documents received before sending them to you.

What is an apostille and what is it for?
An apostille is a certification that authenticates the signature, seal, or authority of the official who issued a public document for presentation in another country that is a party to the Hague Convention. It does not certify the content of the document nor guarantee its acceptance by the receiving institution.
What types of documents can Incorporalia handle?
Our service begins with business documents, such as Articles of Organization or Incorporation and Certificates of Good Standing. We will be adding other state, federal, and private documents that meet the corresponding authentication requirements.
In which US states do you offer the service?
We handle apostille requests in all 50 US states. We currently offer direct purchase for certain documents from Florida, Delaware, Wyoming, and New Mexico. For other states or documents, you can request a quote.
What is the apostille process in Florida?
In Florida, we coordinate obtaining the certified copy or business certificate and its apostille from the corresponding state authorities. Once issued, the document arrives at Incorporalia for review before final delivery to the client.
How does the process work in Delaware?
In Delaware, we request the certified documentation and coordinate the apostille with the state authorities. We review the received document and then arrange for its physical delivery to the indicated recipient.
How is the apostille process carried out in Wyoming?
In Wyoming, we manage the certified business documentation and the apostille application according to the state procedure. The completed document is first sent to Incorporalia, where we review it before sending it to the client.
What is different about the process in New Mexico?
In New Mexico, we first request the certified document through the state's business system. Then we prepare and send the required documentation to the state apostille office. The apostilled document arrives at Incorporalia for review and subsequent delivery to the client.
Can I apostille documents for a company I didn't incorporate with Incorporalia?
Yes. You can request the service for a previously incorporated LLC, corporation, or non-profit organization, even if you didn't use Incorporalia to create it. We will need the entity's information and the details of the document you wish to apostille.
Can amendments to articles of incorporation be apostilled?
Yes, when the document meets the applicable certification requirements. You can request an apostille for the original documents, an amendment, or both. Each document requiring its own certification and apostille is processed and charged separately.
How much does an apostille cost with Incorporalia?
Incorporalia's handling fee starts at $99 per document for available state services. Government fees are shown separately and vary by state and document type. Physical shipping is also charged separately.
How do I receive the apostilled document and how long does it take?
The apostilled document is delivered physically. First, we receive it at Incorporalia to verify that it matches the application and review its presentation; then we send it to the address indicated. The processing time depends on the state, the document, the authorities, and the destination. We will inform you of the estimated time for your case.
Can I use the apostille in any country?
The apostille is used between countries where the Hague Convention is in force and applicable. If the destination country does not accept apostilles, a different process of authentication and consular legalization may be required. Please indicate the country where you will be submitting the document so we can guide you on the appropriate procedure.
Do you also offer federal and private document apostilles?
Yes, we plan to expand our catalog. We already offer apostilles for private documents. Federal documents have different requirements: some require federal authentication. Availability, pricing, and steps will be indicated when each service becomes available.
Important: Direct purchase availability depends on the state and the document. Government fees, processing times, and shipping costs may vary.
